Sehat Sahulat health card

The Sehat Sahulat programme pays for hospital treatment for eligible families at listed hospitals. Check if you are covered and how to use it.

Last reviewed 11 October 2026

The Sehat Sahulat programme (previously known as the Sehat Insaf card) is a government health insurance scheme. It pays for in-patient treatment for eligible families at listed public and private hospitals, so you do not pay at the hospital.

The programme is run differently in each province and territory, and eligibility and cover have changed over time. Always check your current status before you rely on it.

What it covers

The card covers hospital treatment when you are admitted, for example:

  • surgery and other hospital treatment
  • treatment for serious illnesses
  • maternity care

Cover is given per family per year, up to the limit for your area (see below). Out-patient visits and medicines you buy outside hospital are usually not covered.

Who is covered

Your family's cover is linked to the CNIC of the head of the family and the family registration in the NADRA database. Eligibility and yearly cover depend on where you are a permanent resident:

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa All NADRA-registered permanent residents, including those living elsewhere in Pakistan (Sehat Card Plus) Up to Rs 1,000,000
Punjab Permanent residents, at empanelled private hospitals. Cover at public hospitals ended in June 2025 Rs 60,000 for secondary care and Rs 400,000 for priority treatment, up to Rs 1,000,000 in special cases

Make sure your family is correctly registered with NADRA through a Family Registration Certificate (FRC).

Check if you are covered

Send your CNIC number, without dashes, by SMS to 8500. Residents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa can use 9780. The reply tells you whether your family is covered.

  1. Go to a hospital that is on the programme's list.
  2. Show your CNIC, or the CNIC of the head of your family, at the Sehat Sahulat counter.
  3. If you are covered, the hospital admits you and the cost is paid by the programme.

Check the list of hospitals on the programme website before you go, as it changes from time to time.
