Getting a duplicate driving license for lost, stolen, or damaged licenses
A duplicate driving license can be obtained if your original license is lost, stolen, or damaged.
When Duplicate License is Needed
Apply for a duplicate license if your original license is:
- Lost or stolen
- Damaged, mutilated, or illegible
Documents Required
- CNIC (original and copy)
- FIR copy (for lost/stolen license - file at nearest police station)
- Original damaged license (if applicable)
- Medical fitness certificate
- Recent passport-size photographs
- Affidavit on stamp paper stating circumstances of loss/damage
- Duplicate license application form
Application Process
In Person
Visit your nearest motor vehicle licensing authority or excise and taxation office. Submit all required documents including the FIR (if applicable), affidavit, and damaged license (if applicable). Pay the duplicate license fee.
Online
Where available, applications can be submitted online:
- Upload required documents including CNIC copy, medical certificate, photographs, FIR, and affidavit
- Pay duplicate license fee online
- Receive tracking number
- Collect duplicate license from designated center
Fees
- Motorcycle: PKR 1,000-1,500
- LTV: PKR 1,500-2,500
- HTV/PSV: PKR 2,500-3,500
Affidavit
For lost or stolen licenses, submit an affidavit on stamp paper (PKR 50 or PKR 100) stating:
- Name and CNIC number
- Original license number (if known)
- Date and circumstances of loss/theft
- Statement that the license has not been used for illegal purposes
- Signature
The affidavit must be attested by a Notary Public or Oath Commissioner.
Important Information
- The duplicate license will have the same validity period as the original
- If the original license is found after receiving a duplicate, it becomes invalid
- For damaged licenses, surrender the original when applying
- No re-testing is required if the original license was valid
