Driving License Renewal
Renewing your expired or expiring driving license in Pakistan
Driving licenses must be renewed before or after expiry. Driving with an expired license is a traffic violation.
Renewal Period
- Licenses can be renewed up to 6 months before expiry
- LTV and motorcycle licenses are valid for 5 years
- HTV and PSV licenses are valid for 3 years
Documents Required
- Original expired/expiring driving license
- CNIC (original and copy)
- Recent passport-size photographs
- Medical fitness certificate
- Renewal application form
Renewal Process
In Person
Visit your nearest motor vehicle licensing authority or excise and taxation office with the required documents. Submit the application and pay the renewal fee.
Online
Some provinces offer online renewal through e-services portals:
- Upload required documents
- Pay renewal fee online
- Receive tracking number
- Collect renewed license from designated center
Renewal Fees
- Motorcycle: PKR 1,500-2,000
- LTV: PKR 2,000-3,000
- HTV/PSV: PKR 3,000-5,000
Medical Fitness Certificate
Obtain a medical fitness certificate from:
- Government hospitals
- Authorized private medical centers
- District Headquarters Hospitals (DHQs)
The medical examination includes vision test, blood pressure check, and general fitness assessment.
Re-testing
Re-testing is not required for standard renewals.
If your license has been expired for more than 5 years, you will need to retake the written and practical tests.
